Belief #1
"I don't have enough time for something else"
Ranchers are inherently busy. Add on a family and maybe another job, and there's a good chance you're downright exhausted at the end of the day.
Most ranchers are exhausted because they are working against nature -- but here's the thing: nature never rests. You want nature to work for you, and the only way to do that is to work in harmony with nature. That way, when you go home at the end of the day, nature is still doing your work for you.

Belief #2
"Rotational grazing is "working" now, soil is no longer improving but at least my livestock is in ok body condition"
While rotational grazing is much better than continuous grazing, it falls short of potential. The results that you can get by applying the four pillars of the Total Grazing Academy can be 3 to 5 times better as you enhance the symbiosis between your livestock, grass, soil, and you. Plus, by building on top of these 4 Pillars foundations you can keep improving your land's productivity.

"It's better for the grass if you don't graze it too hard"
First we need to define overgrazing, overgrazing happens when our livestock returns to re-graze a plant before it has fully recovered its energy reserves. By practicing Total Grazing, where almost all the forage is consumed, we can graze much more efficiently. This means a couple things. The rest periods will be 2-5 times longer than under rotational grazing, and this allows your best forage species the opportunity to grow deep and fat roots. It also means that our solar panel (the number of growing points per square yard) will be much bigger which means that both production and soil improvement will be enhanced.
Belief #4
"The best Adapted Genetics may not get top prices at the sale barn."
It is true that cattle that have adapted genetics with the right selection guidelines are much easier/cheaper to keep and may not be as tall or high frame as what the feedlot prefers which is a late maturing animal.
By creating your own composite, which by the way is much easier and simple than we may think, you can get the best of both worlds. This means your calves will excel in the feedlot and their dams will excel in your pasture.Â
By increasing the output per acre in your property you will increase your profits and you will also be able to improve your land faster by using low input genetics.

"Total Grazing will leave bare soil"
This is probably the most common misconception. Total grazing will not leave bare soil. If there is bare soil then you are not doing Total Grazing. Total Grazing focuses on high harvest efficiency with very long rest periods to allow the plant to recover before grazing again. It also allows for a large stockpile area. After Total Grazing, you will see your soil evenly covered by strong roots and manure evenly distributed with enough residue to optimize regrowth.

"I am already doing some type of Total Grazing, I don't think I need to enroll"
